Both works performed during this first concert are emblematic of his style. Puccini a caccia, with its 32 birdcalls, is a small sound excursion on lake Massaciuccoli near Torre del Lago, where the author of O Galatuono com’ andó la caccia? lived. Ballata No. 3, written during his stay at theVilla Medici, is a romantic scent of a diamond versimo for piano and ensemble. Along the way, contrasts will be strong, whether with young Serbian Marko Nikodijević (1980) exhilarating music, strongly influenced by techno music, or with Chinese Leilei Tian (1971) colourful music, but also with the gestural performances of German Alexander Schubert (1979).
